Sunrise over San Pietro di Castello
The island of San Pietro di Castello in the Venetian Lagoon was formerly the site of a castle, from which the name of the island and the Castello sestiere originate. Today the island is home to the Basilica di San Pietro di Castello, which dates to the 16th century, as well as a campanile. The belltower and church are pictured below, with the Alps in the background.
