Trevi Fountain at night
Night lighting on the Fontana di Trevi, or Trevi Fountain, in the Trevi district in Rome, Italy. The large Baroque fountain marks the ending point of the Acqua Vergine aqueduct, which in 1453 replaced the former Aqua Virgo aqueduct that was completed in 19 BC by Marcus Agrippa to supply water to ancient Rome. The same source of water that served ancient Rome continues to serve the city of Rome's historic center today via the Trevi Fountain and numerous other public fountains. It is considered very pure drinking water, and people often stop to fill their water bottles from the fountains it feeds.
